What is the difference between 45 steel and 50 steel?

45 steel is the carbon content of c0.42- 0.50% of the structural steel, the material is relatively soft.

Commonly used in cheaper products where the hardness of the mechanical parts is not demanding.

This product is a more premium 50 steel - the carbon content of c 0.47- 0.55% of the structural steel, the material is relatively hard, with better wear resistance.
